# Ricki Lake Reveals Rosie O’Donnell Was ‘Judgy’ About Her Facelift Before Getting One Herself

Ricki Lake is opening up about candid conversations with longtime peers in the entertainment
industry, revealing that fellow former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell was initially
critical of her decision to undergo plastic surgery. According to Lake, the Ricki
Lake Rosie O’Donnell facelift conversation took an ironic turn when O’Donnell later
opted for a procedure of her own following substantial weight loss.

Lake, 56, spoke candidly about the exchange while reflecting on beauty standards,
aging in Hollywood, and personal transparency regarding cosmetic enhancements.

## An Initial Critique Followed by a Change of Heart

During a recent discussion about cosmetic surgery, Lake recalled telling O’Donnell
about her decision to receive a facelift. Lake explained that O’Donnell’s immediate
reaction was skeptical and disapproving, noting that the comedian questioned why
she felt the need to alter her appearance.

However, Lake noted that the dynamic shifted after O’Donnell underwent a significant
personal transformation. Following a major weight loss journey, which often results
in loose or sagging skin around the neck and jawline, O’Donnell ultimately reconsidered
her stance on facial rejuvenation and decided to undergo a similar cosmetic procedure.

Lake emphasized that she harbored no hard feelings, pointing out the humor and irony
in how perspectives can rapidly evolve once an individual experiences personal changes
firsthand.

## Navigating Aging and Body Image in Daytime Television

Both Lake and O’Donnell rose to immense fame as prominent daytime television hosts
during the 1990s and early 2000s. Throughout their decades-long careers, both women
have maintained a rare level of candor with the public regarding their struggles
with weight, mental health, and the relentless scrutiny placed on women’s bodies
in media.

In recent years, Lake has spoken publicly about her wellness routines, natural gray
hair, and her aesthetic treatments, advocating for transparency rather than secrecy
in Hollywood. By speaking openly about her procedures, Lake aims to remove the lingering
stigma surrounding cosmetic care among older women.

## The Impact of Weight Loss on the Ricki Lake Rosie O’Donnell Facelift Decision

Significant weight loss—whether achieved through lifestyle changes, bariatric surgery,
or modern GLP-1 medications—frequently leads patients to consider reconstructive
or cosmetic surgeries. Plastic surgeons regularly note an influx of patients seeking
lower facelifts, neck lifts, and skin reduction procedures to address changes in
facial volume following dramatic weight loss.

O’Donnell, who has been vocal about her own health and weight loss milestones in
recent years, joined a growing list of public figures who have turned to cosmetic
enhancements to complement their overall transformations.

## Looking Ahead

As discussions around aging, aesthetic surgery, and weight management continue to
normalize in popular culture, Lake’s lighthearted reflection highlights how personal
attitudes toward cosmetic enhancements are shifting. By maintaining an open dialogue,
both stars continue to challenge outdated Hollywood taboos surrounding aging and
cosmetic procedures.
