Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed optimism that a Democratic-
led Congress could secure critical **US help for Ukraine**, as Kyiv navigates evolving
political dynamics in Washington to maintain vital international backing.

## Zelenskyy’s Outlook on US Help for Ukraine

President Zelenskyy indicated that support from Democratic lawmakers in the United
States Congress could strengthen Washington’s commitment to Kyiv. With Ukraine continuing
to defend its sovereignty against Russian aggression, steady foreign assistance
remains a cornerstone of the nation’s defense strategy.

Kyiv has consistently engaged leaders across the American political spectrum. However,
leadership shifts on Capitol Hill often carry significant consequences for foreign
policy priorities, including the scale and speed of legislative approval for assistance
packages.

## The Role of Congress in Sustained Foreign Aid

The United States Congress controls government funding and holds ultimate authority
over foreign aid appropriations. Throughout the ongoing conflict, legislative approval
has been essential to authorizing billions of dollars in military equipment, humanitarian
supplies, and direct economic assistance to Ukraine.

Congressional leadership plays a decisive role in shaping which funding bills reach
the floor for a vote. A legislative body aligned with sustained international commitments
creates a clearer path for advancing continued security funding.

### Navigating Bipartisan Dynamics in Washington

While aid for Ukraine has traditionally garnered bipartisan support, legislative
debates have sometimes caused delays in the delivery of critical aid. Ukrainian
officials have repeatedly emphasized that timely deliveries of munitions and air
defense systems directly impact conditions on the battlefield.

By expressing hope for robust cooperation with Democratic lawmakers, Zelenskyy highlights
the importance of maintaining an uninterrupted pipeline of resources from the United
States and international partners.

## Looking Ahead for Ukraine’s Defense Needs

As the conflict persists, Ukrainian officials continue to press international allies
for long-term security guarantees and modern weapon systems. Sustained engagement
with American lawmakers remains vital to securing the legislative backing required
to meet Kyiv’s defense and reconstruction goals.
