Iran Confirms Historic MoU Signing With US in Geneva

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismael Baqai announced that Iran and the United States will formally sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Geneva on Friday. Prior to the signing, Iranian delegations will tour several regional and neighboring countries.

Iran Honors Its People’s Resilience During 110-Day War

Addressing a press conference, Baqai paid tribute to the Iranian people, saying that throughout the 110-day conflict, Iranians stood firmly behind their government and armed forces, demonstrating extraordinary resilience and steadfastness.

He stressed that Iran will never forget the sacrifices made by its leadership, military commanders, and ordinary citizens during the war.

Deal Does Not Mean Forgiveness for War Crimes, Says Iran

Despite the diplomatic progress, Baqai made it clear that reaching a ceasefire agreement does not mean Iran will forgive or forget the crimes committed against it during the war. He reiterated Iran’s full right to seek accountability and compensation for all damages suffered.

Iran maintains that diplomacy and dialogue are always its preferred path — but justice remains non-negotiable.

Frozen Assets and War Compensation on the Table

Baqai confirmed that the return of Iran’s frozen overseas assets and compensation for war damages are key components of the negotiations, calling them legitimate and non-negotiable demands that Iran has every right to pursue.

Lebanon Provisions Included in the MoU

The spokesperson revealed that the MoU with the US also includes clauses related to Lebanon, with guarantees to ensure respect for Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also accused Israel of continuing attacks on Lebanon despite the ceasefire, warning that the implementation of the agreement will be closely monitored.

Strait of Hormuz to Remain Open — No Tolls

With Oman’s facilitation, Baqai said Iran will take measures to ensure the safe navigation of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. He reaffirmed Iran’s long-standing position that no toll or fee will be charged for passage through the strait.

US Must Rebuild Trust With Iranian People

Baqai noted that while Iran will fully honor the terms of the agreement, the United States still has a long road ahead to regain the trust of the Iranian people.

He added that the formal procedure for signing the MoU will be finalized today or tomorrow, after which an official announcement will be made.
